DLK 1 1/2

The DLK Model 1½ sits right in the sweet spot of the classic DLK lineup—bigger and beefier than the Model 1, but still compact enough to fit comfortably in most rooms. Designed by Don L. Kliewer and built in Minnesota during the 1970s, the 1½ uses dual 8-inch high‑compliance woofers paired with a 1½‑inch direct‑radiating tweeter, delivering smooth, detailed mids, tight bass, and clear highs that fans say punch far above their size. The first‑generation models featured solid wood cabinets, rubber‑surround woofers, and a round rear terminal plate—hallmarks of the early DLK craftsmanship. With a rated 40 Hz–18.5 kHz frequency response and a simple 1st‑order crossover, the 1½ retains that warm, full, classic ’70s character that makes these speakers one of the most loved—and most collectible—DLK models today.
